Diouf is on fire as Reds cruise to victory
El Hadji Diouf celebrated his first Premiership game at Anfield with a brace of goals as Liverpool made it two league wins out of two against Southampton this afternoon.
The Senegal striker earned the acclaim of the Kop with a goal in each half as the Reds cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Saints, while Danny Murphy completed the scoring with a late penalty after Bruno Cheyrou was fouled in the box.
Diouf was eventually replaced by Vladimir Smicer in the 79th minute and he left the field to resounding cheers from all corners of the ground. It may not have been the most entertaining of games but that will be of little concern to the majority of the 43,058 crowd. Two games played, two games won, four goals scored and none conceded - you can't ask for much more than that!
